A testosterone patch may be on the way for menopausal women. A study, funded by Theratec, Inc and Proctor & Gamble Pharmaceuticals that will be released soon demonstrated that women experienced improvements in sexual function and psychological well-being when using a testosterone containing skin patch that is under development.

This was the first study ever conducted using a testosterone patch to treat sexual problems in surgically menopausal women. It was conducted at 9 U.S. Centers and involved 75 surgically menopausal women. The patch was used in combination with standard estrogen therapy and was applied to the abdomen and changed twice weekly.
